SUNDAY 11/8 FLU SHOT CLINIC UPDATE

This weekend's clinic will go on as scheduled this Sunday from 1:30-5:00.

THE VACCINE FOR H1N1 WILL BE THE ONLY VACCINE AVAILABLE AT THIS CLINIC.

THERE WILL BE NO SEASONAL FLU VACCINE AVAILABLE FOR THIS CLINIC!

We have over 2000 doses which should be sufficient for this clinic although obviously we can not offer guarantees depending on the demand. There will be some of the nasal form but the majority is the injectable which is for all children 6 months of age and older.

We will have a record 8 nurses available for this clinic to administer the vaccine. This is over twice the number we would normally have. Due to the delay in the release, we hope to immunize as many children as we can at this clinic. A HUGE thank you to our incredible staff for putting forth the extra effort in trying to get this vaccine to your children ASAP. They work around this flu everyday and recognize the importance of protecting our most vulnerable.

We remain committed to this vaccine. The choice to immunize is of course up to the parents. Hopefully, you have been able to read all of the previous entries into this blog as I have tried to make the case for vaccinating your children against H1N1. Widespread disease still persists in 48 states across the US with now South Carolina reentering that category this past reporting week meaning the incidence locally has begun to rise again. It appears at his point that the disease is not going away. It may be too early to tell, but one could make the case that before this is all over, if you are in an age susceptible category, you will either get the vaccine or the disease at some point. Some may choose to get the disease and take their chances. All of our physicians and staff chose the vaccine.
