SUCCESS!! THE INJECTABLE H1N1 HAS ARRIVED.

Availability Update

As promised, any change in supply will be posted that day.

We almost wanted to celebrate today but then the responsibility of getting all of this vaccine to our patients brought us back to earth. We received over 2000 doses of the injectable H1N1 vaccine today! This is the vaccine for all the high risk children that could not get the nasal mist form. It is approved for all children 6 months of age and older as long as there has been no severe reaction to ingestion of eggs. We will begin administering to all children in for well visits and should have enough to get us through the clinic coming up this Sunday from 1:30 -5:00.

I have heard a good bit of chatter about the administration of the vaccine through the schools. Everything from announced dates, to permission slips going home to parents to mechanisms on how this will occur. Different districts are at different points and even different schools within each district seem to be at different points in the process. Having your child vaccinated at school is perfectly acceptable to our physicians. The vaccine all comes from the same source. Our priority is that as many children get vaccinated as possible.

Remember those less then 10 need 2 doses of H1N1 28 days apart though 21 days separation is acceptable. Our other clinics are 11/14 and 12/5. Those getting dose one at this Sunday's clinic can get the 2nd dose 12/5. We plan to add one more clinic sometime in early January to allow more opportunity to get the second dose of either the H1N1 or Seasonal.

Still no further word on seasonal vaccine. Right now we are not anticipating anymore until the end of this month. It is unlikely that we will be able to offer that at this Sunday's clinic and that it will be exclusively an H1N1 clinic. But please check the blog Saturday AM for the final word.
